Pythagoras of Rhegion. Lyre player. Marble, Roman copy from the 2nd century CE after a Greek bronze original of the 5th century BC.

The culture we call 'ancient Greece' lasted for over a millennium and at its height stretched from modern Spain to India. This course traces its development from the Mycenaean Age, through the Archaic and Classical periods, the conquests of Alexander and their aftermath, to the defeat of Greece by Rome.
