Using five case studies we will explore how films represent what they do and how we, as viewers, engage with them. We will discuss issues including the role of imagination, the nature of suspense, what to do with films which don't make sense, how representations of immorality can repel and enthral us, and some of the tricks a film can play on the viewer.
