The D-Day landings of the 6th June 1944 were the largest amphibious operation ever undertaken. We will explore the preparation of Operation Overlord, the assault on the beaches and the attempts to break out from the bridgehead. We will end with the liberation of Paris and consider the place of D-Day in subsequent film and memory.
