The 5th and 6th centuries in Britain are largely lacking in contemporary documentation, so this course will explore later accounts of these centuries and asks how credible and trustworthy the information is likely to be. Topics covered include King Arthur; Hengest, Horsa and Vortigern; and the medieval tale of Havelok the Dane.
