Undergraduate Certificates

Certificate in English Literature: Texts and Contexts Register Interest
Certificate in Film Studies: Approaches to Film Studies Register Interest

Our Certificate courses are taught at FHEQ Level 4 (roughly equivalent to first-year undergraduate level. These are entry level qualifications and are designed to kick off your literature studies. Many certificate students go on to study higher level qualifications, such as a diploma, following completion of a certificate.

Undergraduate Diplomas

Diploma in English Literature: Literature and Criticism Register Interest

Our Diploma course is taught at FHEQ Level 5, equivalent to second-year undergraduate level. Diplomas are open entry, meaning that you can begin your study of English Literature at Diploma level, although background knowledge at Certificate level is recommended.

Undergraduate Advanced Diplomas

Advanced Diploma in Research in the Arts/Sciences Register Interest
Advanced Diploma in Research Theory and Practice Register Interest

Our Undergraduate Advanced Diplomas are research-based courses (FHEQ level 6), which give you the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with qualified researchers in your field. You will be introduced to a research community and will begin to forge an identity as a researcher in your own right.

Literature Tutors

Dr Jenny Bavidge

Jenny Bavidge is University Lecturer and ICE’s Academic Director in Literature, Film and Creative Writing. She oversees the programme of literature, creative writing and film courses, and teaches on the Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in English Literature.
