Head of Academic Centre Administration – Professional Studies (fixed-term)

Salary: £35,550 – £47,722 pa,

The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development. ICE aims to ensure that the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievements.

We wish to appoint a Head of Academic Centre Administration to work alongside the Academic Directors for Professional Studies, and collaboratively with colleagues across the Institute, including the Division of Business Development and Student Recruitment, further to develop and administer our portfolio of courses. Through administrative leadership, s/he will act to ensure that the courses delivered by the Institute of Continuing Education are of the very highest academic quality, commensurate with the University of Cambridge's reputation as one of the world's leading higher education providers.

The successful applicant will be jointly responsible for leading and line-managing an administrative team, ensuring that a wide portfolio of courses is effectively developed. Reporting to the Director of the Academic Centres Division, the role-holder will manage the administration of course approvals, and course management, develop processes and practices further to enhance the student experience and maintain effective financial control of the Academic Centre. Working collaboratively with academics and other internal and external stakeholders, the successful applicant will ensure that a consistent and high quality programme is delivered.

The successful candidate will have experience of leading educational activities, projects and people in the Higher Education sector as well as excellent organisational, IT and interpersonal skills with an innovative approach to developing and improving processes and delivery. S/he will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders. The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines is essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
