Dr Kanta Dihal

Dr Kanta Dihal is a research fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence, University of Cambridge. She is the Principal Investigator on the Global AI Narratives project and the Project Development Lead on Decolonizing AI.

 

Her research explores how fictional and nonfictional stories shape the development and public understanding of artificial intelligence, and intersects the fields of science communication, literature and science, and science fiction. She has a PhD in science communication from the University of Oxford, and is co-editor of the new book AI Narratives: A History of Imaginative Thinking About Intelligent Machines (2020). She is currently writing the books AI: A Mythology (with Dr Stephen Cave) and Stories in Superposition.

 

Kanta teaches undergraduate and graduate students at the English Faculty and ICE, and enjoys teaching topics and works that go beyond the standard canon. She has previously taught at the Continuing Education faculty in Oxford, and enjoys the vast range of experience adult students bring to their learning.
