Lucy Allen is an early career academic who works on narratives of violence and sexuality in medieval and early modern literature. She completed her PhD at the University of York in 2014, then worked as a teaching associate in the Faculty of English at the University of Cambridge to 2016, and as an affiliated lecturer in English Literature at Newnham College, University of Cambridge, until 2018. Her teaching interests include the ethics of reading and performance and the role of academic scholarship in contemporary culture. She is currently writing a book on Chaucer’s Legend of Good Women and the genre of romance, and has a particular interest in Shakespeare and the rewriting of medieval and Classical sources.
