Sue's teaching style reflects her experience as a writer, where ideas are often developed through teamwork. TV and radio clips are incorporated into classes to demonstrate theories around character, structure and dialogue. Workshops include numerous creative exercises, in order to put theory into practice and the overall style is informal, informative and encouraging. Sue enjoys teaching adult students because they bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the "writers' room". Radio, particularly, attracts students who love the medium and appreciate its ability to take listeners anywhere, via good writing and powerful imagination.
