Robert Blume

Robert studied on the Advanced Diploma in Research Theory and Practice in English - Business Management (International Pre-Masters)

I’m currently studying the Advanced Diploma in Research Theory and Practice in English – Business Management. Having studied Entrepreneurship at Undergraduate level and a pre-masters in Marketing at the University of Groningen, I made the decision to study on the IPM course because of the unique opportunity to study abroad, the possibility to work on research and improve my language skills. The course has exceeded my expectations so far, I have already made new friends and have improved English and research skills. I’m really happy to have been offered the opportunity to be part of this programme and look forward to being able to progress to master’s level study. I hope that others will follow in the coming years.

I’m founder and CEO of an educational and research organisation in Tokyo, and have also studied an MA in Media and Governance at Keio University in Japan. I’m studying on this course to prepare for a master’s course at a leading research university. I’m enjoying the course so far, especially the opportunity to talk with peer students about each research interest and proposal, and preparing for class assignments together. Studying alongside people from different backgrounds and interests has exposed diverse perspectives which are essential to conducting research projects.

My ultimate goal is to study on the MPhil in Finance and Economics at the University of Cambridge. I chose to study on the International Pre-Master's course to enhance my English and research skills to help me get there. The past term has been very enriching; I have learned a lot that I believe will help me both academically and professionally. The small cohort size means that we can discuss everything as a group and I’m constantly exposed to different perspectives. I’m particularly enjoying the tutoring and supervisions, both of which have been invaluable and have improved my skills considerably in the past term.

Peizhao Lin

Peizhao studied on the Advanced Diploma in Research Theory and Practice in English - Business Management (International Pre-Masters)

With a background in business, I decided to study at ICE to enhance my understanding of key and emerging business topics and prepare for further study. Studying this course allowed me to adjust to higher education in the UK and helped me gain a much better understanding of academic writing which is vital for postgraduate study. I particularly enjoyed developing my skills as an independent researcher, conducting my own research through practice. My language skills have improved considerably and, since finishing the course, I have been offered a place at King’s College London to further my study in the field of Politics and Economics.

Ziling Zhou

Ziling studied on the Advanced Diploma in Research Theory and Practice in English - Business Management (International Pre-Masters)

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and Finance, and chose to study on this course to help me transition to Master’s level study. The teachers are excellent and the small class size ensures that every student is well taken care of. The course allowed me to develop a variety of research methods and techniques, and the quality of my academic writing has significantly improved too. I particularly enjoyed the extracurricular activities including punting, visiting the Colleges and participating in various afternoon teas and formal dinners. On a more personal level, I have made friends with bright students from all around the world. My tutors were a great help with my applications for Master’s programmes, and since finishing the course I have received an offer to study an MPhil from the University of Cambridge.
