We look at the wonderful art produced in 19th-century Scandinavia, including the Danish Golden Age, landscapes from Sweden, and Romanticism in Norway. Subjects include Scandinavian women artists, the artists’ colony at Skagen and awards at the Paris Salon. Big names include Edvard Munch (Norway), Hammershøi and Krøyer (Denmark) and Anders Zorn (Sweden), and we analyse why this art met with great international success.
