Join us as we discuss three new poetry collections. Kaddy Benyon’s Robbergirls, Lucy Hamilton’s Viewer | Viewed and Lucy Sheerman’s Pine Island are all published this Autumn.

Kaddy, Lucy and Lucy will be talking about the inspiration behind their new collections.

Research for Robbergirls, a sapphic retelling of the Snow Queen, involved observing reindeer herders at work in Lapland. Viewer | Viewed explores family histories and politics through a series of montages that cut up and reconstruct family photos and artefacts. Pine Island is based on a series of letters written to no one – an imaginary Dearest - over the course of a year.

All three have been workshopping their poetry together for many years and will talk about the experience of supporting each other through the highs and lows of being a writer.

Robbergirls

"Kaddy Benyon's Robbergirls reveals how story lives inside us: how it expands the borders of the self even as it’s made supple by our (re)imagining.” Sheri Bening

 Viewer | Viewed

“The back-and-forthness of image and poem, each illuminating the other, is exactly what a successful ekphrastic relationship should display, and what makes this collection ultimately so original and rewarding.” Robert Vas Dias

 Pine Island

“Whether ‘Dearest’ is lover, friend, child or some other kind of intimate other, these poems carve out a strong craving for saying the things one usually can’t—except by way of poetry.” Lee Ann Brown

Kaddy, Lucy and Lucy will be talking to Teaching Associate in Creative Writing, Lucy Durneen, about their books.
