Andrew Lacey holds a postgraduate degree in Library and Information Studies and a doctorate for work on King Charles I. From 1988 he held posts as a professional librarian in a variety of Colleges and Universities including College Librarian at Trinity Hall Cambridge, Special Collections Librarian at the University of Leicester and in the University of Cambridge, Faculty of Architecture and History of Art.
Andrew is a Tutor for the Continuing Education departments at both the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford and his teaching, research and publications have included work on the English Civil War, 16th and 17th century British and European history, the relationship between art and propaganda, and 19th and 20th century British and European history.
He has been teaching in adult education since the late 1980s and always enjoys the interaction with students, many of whom bring their life-experience to courses. Andrew always tries to make his teaching as accessible as possible through a generous use of film illustrations and handouts and actively encourages interaction with students through questions and discussions.
Andrew's latest book on the English Civil War was published in 2017. He has also written and tutors three online courses for Cambridge, two on the Tudors and one on Hitler and the Nazis and one for Oxford on the English Civil War - never a dull moment!
