Please note: there are no accessible rooms in St John's College and access to the historic Wordsworth Room is via stairs. It is a 15-20 minute walk from St John’s College to the teaching site.
Home to the iconic Bridge of Sighs and situated in the city centre, St John's College offers comfortable en suite accommodation set within the College's wonderful grounds. The teaching site is reached by a pleasant walk along the backs.
St John's College was founded in 1511 and is one of the largest Colleges in Cambridge. Its former students include Nobel Prize winners, Prime Ministers, scientists, artists, and leaders in business and industry. The great Chapel was built in 1863-69. Over the 500 years since the College was founded it has become one of the largest Colleges in Cambridge. Before the College was founded the site housed the Hospital of St John, monastic community.
The College offers modern single en suite bedrooms in the Cripps Building. Students will need to check-in at the Porters’ Lodge on Northampton Street.
St John's College self-service dinners and breakfasts will be served in the newly refurbished Buttery. St John’s also provides a traditionally served-Formal Friday dinner at the end of each week taking place in the 450-year-old Wordsworth Room room where William Wordsworth stayed when he studied at the College in the 18th century.
