Dr Andrew Catherall-Ostler read Natural Sciences at Homerton before completing a PhD in evolutionary biology at Christ's College. His doctoral research looked at how different populations can adapt to different environmental conditions despite ongoing gene flow. Andrew is an award-winning undergraduate supervisor, teaching evolutionary biology to second and third-year students as part of the Natural Sciences Tripos. Andrew was elected a Bye-Fellow at Homerton College in 2023 in recognition of his contributions to teaching and outreach.
Now working in biology education, Andrew co-founded the highly successful Cambridge Biology Challenge to help students across the UK see biology as a subject in which there is as much to think about as there is to remember. As a Panel Tutor at ICE, Andrew is passionate about making evolutionary biology engaging and accessible for all. Andrew also creates courses that help learners develop their broader biological puzzle-solving skills.
