After undertaking a BA in History (1997) and MA in Medieval Studies (1999) at the University of Bristol, Ellie Pridgeon obtained a PhD in medieval wall painting from the University of Leicester in 2010. She has taught undergraduates and masters students art history and architecture at the University of Bristol, the University of Oxford, the University of Leicester (2002-present), and at Leicester Vaughan College (LVC). She was Course Director for the Certificate in Art History and Arts Cluster Co-ordinator at the University of Leicester between 2009 and 2011.
Ellie’s research focuses on St Christopher imagery, in particular the patronage and context of wall paintings (and related imagery) in the medieval church building. Ellie is also an archive consultant, and has worked for various institutions, including the Imperial War Museum and the Science Museum. Archives features prominently in her art historical research.
Ellie's main area of academic research is images of St Christopher in wall painting, glass, sculpture and panel painting in late-medieval England. Ellie also examined primary texts for my PhD, including wills, churchwardens’ accounts and guild records for churches.
