I investigate the role of facial mimicry, facial proprioception and general body interoception during the recognition of facial expressions. My research examines how the conscious or subconscious perception of physiological signals coming from our inner body affects our ability to understand emotions. By understanding the neural basis and functions of face expression recognition, my research aims at contributing to our knowledge about emotional processing and related disabilities caused by neural or psychological disorders.
