John is a Panel Tutor at the Institute of Continuing Education where he contributes to teaching on the Undergraduate Certificate in Cognitive Psychology. Awarded his PhD in Psychology by Cardiff University in 2013, John previously studied Neuroscience. His thesis explored the relationship between peripheral and central insulin dysregulation and markers of pre-clinical dementia. John’s subsequent postdoctoral research at Nottingham Trent University explored brain markers of visual hallucinations induced via light flicker and their relationship with hallucination proneness and the vividness of mental imagery.
In addition to working as a Panel Tutor, John works as a Freelance Counselling Tutor, and has a private practice as a Counsellor specialising in Psychedelic Integration Therapy. Interested in the neuropharmacology and therapeutic potential of Classic Psychedelics such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), mescaline, psilocybin and Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), John is an associate member of the Institute of Psychedelic Therapy.
Using a blended teaching style that integrates John’s personality and interests with his students' needs and curriculum-appropriate methods, John aim is for students to develop a deep knowledge and understanding of topics.
