Dr Jonathan Foyle is a lecturer at the University of Bath, specialising in Building Conservation and Architectural History. His early career included eight years as Curator of Historic Buildings, Historic Royal Palaces where his PhD in Archaeology examined the evidence for Thomas Wolsey's Hampton Court Palace prior to its remodelling for Henry VIII. This led to broadcasting experience, contributing to programmes such as Time Team, and presenting series such as BBC's ‘Climbing Great Buildings’ and ‘Henry VIII: Patron or Plunderer?’ As Chief Executive of World Monuments Fund Britain, he led a team to provide capacity, funds and researched direction for numerous substantial conservation projects. He has authored seven books on English medieval buildings and numerous articles. His research interests include architecture, iconography, furniture and material culture, the material for lectures delivered in the UK and the United States.
Jonathan first taught for Cambridge 25 years ago, invites discussion and enjoys sharing the process of discovery.
