Paul Suttie received his PhD in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, held a British Academy Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Robinson College, Cambridge, and is currently a panel tutor for the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education. His chief interest is in English Renaissance poetry and drama. He has published various scholarly articles and a book on the Elizabethan poet Edmund Spenser. His focus in teaching is on the close reading of literary texts against a backdrop of their historical, literary and intellectual contexts.
Dr Suttie's current work explores conflicts between different systems of moral, political and religious interpretation in the works of some major English Renaissance writers including More, Sidney, Spenser, Shakespeare and Milton.
