Dr Vasos Pavlika is Teaching Fellow at University College London where he delivers undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Engineering Mathematics, Fluid Dynamics, Research Methods and Statistics. Vasos is also a member of the Microfluidics group.
Vasos is also employed in the Department for Continuing Education, University of Oxford delivering courses in: Computer programming, Discrete Mathematics, Matlab, R, Statistics, the Mathematics of Computer Science and the Mathematics of the Life Sciences. Vasos was previously Acting Director of Mathematics and Computing within the University of Oxford Department for Continuing Education.
Vasos is also a Saturday School lecturer at the London School of Economics and Political Science as well as a Course Director of a Summer School in Mathematics.
Vasos is also an Online Tutor at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London on seven M.Sc modules in Mathematical Economics.
Vasos is also External Examiner in Muscat, Oman (for the University of Wolverhampton), Internal Examiner for the University of East London in Athens, Thessaloniki, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Vasos is also External Examiner at the University of Lincoln, Staffordshire University and Ulster University. Vasos has previously been an External Examiner on postgraduate and undergraduate degrees at: Bucks New University, Canberra University, Bournemouth University, Bedfordshire University, INTO City University and Kingston University.
Vasos delivers courses in the Department of Continuing Education, Cambridge University on the History of Science. Vasos is also hoping to deliver courses on the History of Mathematics in particular on the “Calculus Wars” and on the “Giants of Mathematics” including Newton, Gauss, Euler, Hilbert, Cayley and Hamilton. Vasos is also hoping to deliver more traditional courses in the department in areas of Applied Mathematics such as: Mathematics for Computer Science and Statistics for Beginners.
Vasos is very passionate about teaching the adult sector as much dialogue takes place between all members of the group such that an interchange of ideas is a common occurrence.
Vasos delivers all his lectures with a variety of teaching aids including: videos, Power Point presentations as well as traditional board work during his seminars.
