This course is intended for complete beginners who wish to gain some understanding of the Chinese language and culture. It will cover basic communicational Mandarin and an introduction to Chinese characters and calligraphy, as well as giving an insight into ancient versus modern Chinese culture and society.

Unless otherwise stated, teaching and assessment for ICE courses are in English. Students whose first language is not English should refer to the Competence in the English Language Policy for further guidance.
