Modern science fiction emerged first in the science fiction magazines of the USA in the late 1930s, and from there developed into the genre that is now published and viewed throughout the world, in English and other languages, and has had such a profound influence on our popular culture. This course will discuss its development through a study of the short stories in The Big Book of Science Fiction (2016).
