1881 Programme for Gilbert and Sullivan's Patience, Clement-Smith & Co. (London)

Explore ballads, songs and snatches from the 13 immortal comic operas by legendary Victorian writers, W S Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, and discover how and why these national treasures remain as popular today as they were when written over a century ago. The course is practically based and will include some optional group singing focusing mainly on the songs within their dramatic context in the operas. Any singing is simple and does not require specialist abilities. It is led by former Musical Director of the Carl Rosa Opera Company and current Director of the London Operetta, Ian McMillan.
