Dr Loane has over 20 years’ background and experience in both International Business and Entrepreneurship which has included the design, development and delivery of course and programme specifications, programme management and academic research. This spans the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, international entrepreneurship, international business, international marketing and research skills and methods. Additionally, she has many years practical experience from both the logistics and manufacturing industries in both Ireland and the UK. She has published widely in high quality peer reviewed International Business/International Entrepreneurship/Small Business academic journals including: International Business Review, International Marketing Review, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development: International Small Business Journal: International Review of Entrepreneurship: Journal of International Entrepreneurship and the Journal of World Business
As a senior academic and building on her research she has been involved in many successful European Union funded projects, working with transnational and multi disciplinary consortia including those in Finland, Iceland, Poland, Norway, Portugal, Turkey, Sweden and Ireland. These projects covered a range of areas, a few examples include ChatPal (European Commission Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic) which developed and launched chatbots to support the mental wellbeing of people in remote and rural areas, Seed2Sustain the North, (European Commission Interreg Northern Periphery and Arctic), which assisted traditional as well as sustainability-focused SMEs in Sweden and Finland, and Northern Ireland to broaden their market, by developing a digital and dynamic platform to coordinate and develop new and innovative approaches to sustainable development, Social Enterprises & Community Renewable Energy or SECRE (European Commission Northern Periphery Programme, this involved a transnational network of renewable energy and social business expertise in the Northern Periphery. SECRE helped social enterprises provide significant amount of net profit to fulfil their social goals or invest in businesses to enhance social impact.
Dr Loane consults widely and has been involved in many knowledge transfer activities including several Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTPs) and InvestNI funded Innovation Voucher and FUSION projects, the common threads were often working with SMEs to embrace innovation practices and concepts as well as develop new international markets. In addition to these activities, she is Adjunct Faculty/Tutor with Edinburgh Napier University, the University of Nottingham and the University of Aberdeen. Her teaching style is highly participative and engaging in order to ensure a rich and rewarding student experience. She is also currently the Chief Examiner for the Institute of Export and International Trade (UK).
