Millie is a College Lecturer at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and a Specialist Mentor with Cambridge’s Accessibility and Disability Resource Centre.
She completed her undergraduate studies at Magdalene College (2016–2019) and Master’s degree in Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Pembroke College (2019–2020) before returning to Magdalene for her PhD (2020–2024). Her doctoral project focussed on the difficulties of solitary, spiritual contemplation in the Middle Ages and if/how these difficulties were addressed in texts. She is currently preparing this research for publication as a monograph.
Millie particularly enjoys teaching Chaucer’s works at the Institute of Continuing Education (ICE). She also teaches a wide range of medieval literature to both undergraduates and postgraduates at Cambridge, covering topics such as ‘The Medieval Supernatural’, ‘Grief and Lament’, ‘Medieval Drama’, ‘Comedy’ and ‘The Significance of Medieval Manuscript Culture’.
Students have described Millie’s teaching style as ‘extremely supportive and encouraging’ and ‘consistently enjoyable’. She aims to create a welcoming learning environment which fosters an ‘informed and creative exploration of a range of material.’ Millie’s classes pay close attention to primary texts as well as broader themes and contexts. She encourages transhistorical and multidisciplinary thinking.
