Institute of Continuing Education (ICE)
Teaching Associate in Business and Management (Part-time, 2 Year Fixed-term)
Salary : £29,799-£38,833
The University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) delivers high quality and distinctive educational programmes for adult learners, predominantly studying on a part-time basis, for either personal enrichment or professional development.
We wish to appoint a Teaching Associate in Business and Management to support the development and delivery of accessible award-bearing programmes and short courses in these fields. The post is offered initially on a 0.5FTE (half-time), two-year fixed term contract basis.
ICE's offer will focus on delivering the fundamental pillars of the discipline, primarily at the undergraduate level, rather than advanced postgraduate executive education. Our aim is to engage with adult learners who wish to develop a range of core skills in business and management as part of their first entry into higher education or to augment their existing professional expertise in other fields e.g. for technical specialists who wish to become team leaders or line/project managers.
The successful candidate will hold relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, ideally extending to doctoral level. They are likely to also hold a relevant teaching qualification and/or be a fellow of HEA. They will have broad experience of delivering high quality business and management education to diverse groups of learners. Preferably, they will have experience of directing undergraduate courses in an established UK higher education setting. Their teaching style will be evidence-based and highly engaging. They will have a clear interest in working with motivated mature students drawn from a diverse range of backgrounds.
The post holder will play a central role in establishing a new FHEQ level 4 Higher Education Certificate in Business and Management, with an emphasis on both strategic and operational elements. They will also take a lead role in developing a new range of short courses (face-to-face and online) in fundamental business skills. They will work to develop and lead a pool of expert tutors to ensure that ICE's courses are educationally excellent and practitioner relevant. In due course, the successful candidate may become involved in further new course development in areas pertaining to apprenticeships and preparing international graduates for postgraduate level study.
