Dr Gilly Carr, senior lecturer and academic director in Archaeology at ICE, has recently been appointed as one of eight academic advisors to the new Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in Westminster. In 2016, Gilly was appointed to the 12-member delegation of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, and this new appointment follows on from this earlier honour. The Learning Centre will tell the story of Britain’s role in the history of the Holocaust, and Gilly’s specialism on Nazi persecution in the Channel Islands will be one of the topics addressed within the Centre.
“I was thrilled to invited”, said Gilly. “It’s such an honour to be asked and I look forward to making a positive contribution to the new Memorial and Learning Centre in Westminster.”
This academic year, Gilly Carr will be teaching online courses on Conflict Archaeology, Dark Heritage, and on the Nazi persecution of the Channel Islands. Applications are also open for the new Postgraduate Certificate in Britain and the Holocaust. Gilly hopes to keep her students updated with this important project as it progresses.
