Teaching dates: Monday 20th - Thursday 23rd January 2020 and Thursday 6th February 2020

Aims

Ensure students develop advanced skills and motivation for teaching.

Allow students to contribute to continuing development of healthcare professionals by stimulating inter-professional education.

Develop students as teachers and prepare them for the high standards of revalidation and appraising of the educational aspect of their work.

Content

There are eight themes within the education module:

Theme 1: Introduction to small group teaching;

Theme 2: Becoming an effective clinical supervisor;

Theme 3: Principles of assessment and appraisal;

Theme 4: Technology enhanced learning (TEL) Part I: eLearning;

Theme 5: Technology enhanced learning (TEL) Part II: Simulation;

Theme 6: Teaching practical clinical skills;

Theme 7: Trainees in difficulty;

Theme 8: Educational research.

All teaching will take place at Madingley Hall, a 16th-century manor house on the outskirts of Cambridge, and home to the Institute of Continuing Education.

Entry requirements

Applications are invited from Specialty Registrars or equivalent, GPs, dentists and newly appointed consultants.

Eligible employees from CUHP partner organisations (CUHFT, Papworth Hospital NHS FT, CPFT), will be encouraged to apply; however, places will also be made available to other suitably qualified individuals.

Applicants are normally expected to a hold a 2.i degree or higher from a UK university or an equivalent from an overseas university. There is provision to accept applicants who do not satisfy the standard academic criterion. Such applicants must produce evidence of relevant and equivalent experience and their suitability for the course.

All applicants are required to demonstrate competency in English at a high level before commencing the programme (IELTS Academic test scores of: overall band score of 7.5, with not less than 7.0 in speaking, listening, writing and reading). The language requirements will be reviewed in light of changes to the General Medical Council’s English language requirements.
