Institute of Continuing Education (ICE)

This course has been cancelled. Please register your interest by using the ‘Ask a Question’ function and we will notify you when this course, or a similar course, is next run.

This course will immerse you in debates about directions in contemporary fiction. We will look at five works of fiction over five weeks, including works by Ali Smith, Eimear McBride, Colm Toibin, and Jim Crace. We will read and discuss them together, exploring questions of belief and disbelief, narration, and identity.

There are six books that must be bought and read before the course begins which will be listed on the syllabus. The syllabus will be uploaded in due course.

Unless otherwise stated, teaching and assessment for ICE courses are in English. Students whose first language is not English should refer to the Competence in the English Language Policy for further guidance.

Printable versions of our brochures are available to download from the Institute Publications page.
