Course Programme

Session timings are below.

Please plan to arrive online shortly before each session is due to begin.

Friday 10 July 3.00pm: Session 1: Film related to the book: “Così parlò Bellavista”.

Friday 10 July 5.00pm: Session 2: Introductory talk about the author followed by discussion of the novel.

Saturday 11 July 9.30 am: Session 3: Reading and comprehension practice.​​​​​​​

Saturday 11 July 11.30 am: Session 4: Listening and reading comprehension.​​​​​​​

Saturday 11 July 3.00pm: Session 5: Discussion of film and novel. Italian conversation.​​​​​​​

Sunday 12 July 9.30am: .Session 6: Language Workshop. Reading and writing.​​​​​​​

Sunday 12 July 11.30pm: Session 7: Language Workshop. Reading and writing.​​​​​​​

This course is taught in Italian at the following CEFR levels:

Reading: B2: I can understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument, provided that the topic is reasonably familiar. I can understand most TV news and current affairs programmes. I can understand the majority of films in standard dialect.

Listening: B2: I can read articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. I can understand contemporary literary prose.

Spoken Interaction: B1: I can deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken. I can enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest, or pertinent to every day life (e.g. families, hobbies, work, travel and current events)

Writing: B1: I can write simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest. I can write personal letters describing experiences and impressions.

Virtual Classroom

This course takes place online using the teleconferencing software ZOOM.

What you will need

The course is open to anyone, however it is taught via a virtual classroom. You will be able to see, hear and interact with your classmates and the tutor. In order to participate you will need to have a laptop, computer, tablet or other device equipped with a camera (webcam), speakers and a microphone.
