James VI of Scotland, I of England and Ireland by John De Critz the Elder

James VI and I is one of the most interesting and controversial of British monarchs. This course will investigate James's personality, beliefs and policies through a range of primary sources. It will focus particularly on his career as King, the use that he made of his powers, and the nature of his achievements.
