The Master of Studies in Social Innovation is a part-time postgraduate programme for practitioners in the business, public and social sectors who wish to design and lead innovative solutions to pressing social issues. The programme will be delivered over two years by Cambridge Judge Business School through online delivery and residential weeks in Cambridge.

In recognition of the fact that social innovation cuts across sectors and types of organisation, the programme is aimed at middle and senior-level leaders operating in all sectors of the economy – including firms, public bodies, NGOs and social ventures – who wish to build on their experience and expertise to collaborate with others to create social change.

Selection process

Stage 1: Once the admissions team has received an application and the supporting documentation, the applicant is notified if they have been shortlisted for an online interview with the department Admissions Committee. The purpose of the interview will be to further gauge the candidate's suitability for the course.

Stage 2: The Admissions Committee of the programme makes a recommendation about the applicant, and this is submitted to the CJBS Degree Committee for approval.

Stage 3: When the recommendation for admission of an applicant is agreed by the CJBS Degree Committee, the admissions team of Institute of Continuing Education will issue a formal offer letter. The offer of a place on the programme will come with conditions attached. These might be financial (i.e. proving that the applicant has the funds to pay for the programme), language-related (i.e. proving that the applicant’s English language skills are proficient), or academic (e.g. submitting original documents). It is the applicant’s responsibility to meet these requirements and provide the necessary evidence in a timely manner in order to be confirmed as a student in the programme.

Stage 4: The confirmation of offer will also be subject to the applicant obtaining College membership. The request for membership to the applicant’s college of choice is made by the programme team. Contact us if you would like to talk about College choices

Stage 5: This is the final stage of the applications process. Once an applicant has met all the conditions for admission and secured a College place, they are confirmed as a student in the programme for Michaelmas term start.  At this stage the applicant can start making arrangements such as visa, travel and accommodation bookings ahead of the first residential phase in Cambridge.

Admission of students into our programme is a rolling process, and therefore we welcome and encourage an early submission of applications.

The duration of the selection process will vary depending on committee meeting dates, although standard applicants can expect to hear if they have been shortlisted for an interview within eight weeks of submitting an application. Then, if successful, a conditional offer should be sent to the applicant within six weeks of Degree Committee approving the recommendation for admission. Please note that this is only an average timeline to be used for reference.
