Simone Weil in 1921

An introduction to the life, philosophy and religious mysticism of Simone Weil. As influential as her thought has become, Weil wrote that she felt ‘as invisible as dead leaves’. In this short course, we will rake over those leaves to examine a ‘genius akin to that of the saints’ (T. S. Eliot), that of the ‘only great spirit of our times’ (Albert Camus).
