The Phoenicians were a seafaring group who inhabited modern Lebanon. They are known for inventing and disseminating the modern alphabet and for their extensive trade networks. This course explores these fascinating people who spread from Lebanon across the Mediterranean, from Cyprus to Spain, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria. We will trace their spread and the changes they brought across the region.
