Whatever its period or mood, reading poetry means dealing with its nuts and bolts: rhyme and metre, diction and syntax, lineation, form, and layout – the heart of Cambridge’s famous Practical Criticism. This course covers them all, drawing on poetry of every period from the Renaissance to the 21st century. This is a 10-session course and must be taken with W410Am02 in week 4.
