The development of second/foreign (L2) tests which are embedded in a communicative language paradigm is now accepted as the norm in L2 assessment. Such an approach acts as a springboard for the design, content and implementation of tests, and as the guiding principle for evidencing test validity. But what does a communicative approach to language testing and test validity actually mean and entail? In this webinar Dr Evelina Galaczi will explore this question through a theoretical, empirical and practical lens, directed at the historical developments, theoretical debates and operational applications that have accompanied L2 tests.
