Creative writing tutor Dr Lucy Durneen will be in conversation with Julian Hoffman in this free Zoom event on Tuesday, 16 December, 7-8pm, GMT.

Julian was born in the northeast of England and grew up in southern Ontario. In the summer of 2000 he and his wife moved from London to a mountain village beside the Prespa Lakes in northwestern Greece. His most recent book, Lifelines: Searching for Home in the Mountains of Greece, is about that move. Nearly a quarter of a century in the making, it’s a story of shelter, generosity and welcome. A story of people, pelicans, borders and bears. A story of a shared world where three countries come together around two ancient lakes.

His previous book, Irreplaceable: The Fight to Save Our Wild Places, was the Highly Commended Finalist for the 2020 Wainwright Prize for Writing on Global Conservation and his first book, The Small Heart of Things won the 2012 AWP Award Series for Creative Nonfiction.
