Institute of Continuing Education (ICE)
In this short course, MSt Crime and Thriller Writing course director Sophie Hannah will share with participants her golden rules for getting your crime novel off to a good start, in a way that makes it far more likely that a) you will want and feel able to finish it, and b) it will end up being as good as it can be. The three sessions will focus on, in turn, the blurb, the synopsis and the plan. Most writers misunderstand how to use these three key ingredients to their own best advantage - Sophie will explain why, and share her own novel writing method.
The blurb-first approach - Tuesday 29 November
Synopsis mistakes and how to avoid them - Monday 12 December
The gnocchi-draft approach to writing - Tuesday 10 January
