Writers are often given two pieces of advice: to write what they know and to try to second guess what readers want to read. In this topical talk, Creative Writing Academic Director, Dr Midge Gillies will argue that good writing is about using your imagination, as much as your own experience, and that it can be dangerous to try to predict “the next big thing” in publishing.
