Celebrate International Mother Language Day with an afternoon of stories at this free storytelling event
Stories come in all shapes and sizes. Forms and languages.
At In Your Own Words we’re celebrating International Mother Language Day with stories in all of their many forms. They might be oral, written, told through song, or signed, no matter the form or the language it’s in, there’s a place for stories in all of our languages at this free storytelling event. Each storyteller will have 3-5 minutes to share their story in their Mother language. The stories might be fiction, true stories, memories, notes, songs, or something in between.
If you would like to share your 3–5-minute story in any language that loosely explores the theme joy, memory, or celebrate, we’d love to hear it. Stories can be fiction, personal essays, songs, memories, poetry, notes, or something in between. You can share your own story or one you know well. To sign up for a 3–5-minute storytelling slot, email Yvonne at yvonne.battle-felton@ice.cam.ac.uk
This event is sponsored by the Creative Writing Centre at the Institute of Continuing Education, Cambridge University and supported by Cambridge Libraries. The event is free, all are welcome, and light refreshments will be served.
