The completion of the human genome project has paved the way for major advances in our understanding of human genetic disease and the pathogenesis of cancer. Nevertheless, these advances have also revealed that genetics is only part of the story and there is increasing recognition that epigenetics will be critical for understanding human disease and the practice of genomic medicine. Cambridge is the leading European centre for epigenetic research and this module will draw on world-leading local scientists to provide expert coverage of this fascinating topic.

Fees and funding

The fee for 2020-21 will be £1,000 for Home students and for £2,250 for overseas students.

HEE funding is available for NHS staff wishing to apply to study Genomic Medicine at The University of Cambridge for study of individual modules or modules as part of a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or part-time Masters in Genomic Medicine.  Limited funding is also available for those wishing to extend their study from a Postgraduate Certificate or 4 modules to a Postgraduate Diploma or MSt. All funding is subject to availability.

Prospective students wishing to apply for HEE funding should apply for their course place in the first instance. If you are eligible for Health Education England [HEE] funding then your application for funding is made via the University and not directly to HEE.  If you receive a conditional offer of a place, we (the University) will confirm the amount of HEE funding we can offer. With your permission we will then share your details with HEE so that they can progress and approve your funding allocation. There is a useful funding application procedure flowchart on the HEE website here, click the ‘funding rules’ tab under each module description.

HEE funding is limited and only available for modules before the end of March 2021. You should make your application to us as swiftly possible in order to secure a place on the module(s) of your choice and secure any available funding.
