Iliad Book 6 gradually moves away from the battlefield into the city of Troy, where in one of the most poignant episodes of the poem, the Trojan hero Hector meets with his wife and son for what is to be the last time. Through this intimate encounter, Homer explores in detail the themes of glory and loss for warriors and their families that resonate throughout the poem. This course will appeal to those with a confident grasp of the fundamentals of Classical Greek, and who want to explore the poem in the original language and develop their understanding of Homeric dialect, composition, and themes.

Accessibility for students with support requirements

We make every effort both to anticipate and to make reasonable adjustments to meet the needs of students with support requirements including those with unseen disabilities, including mental health conditions, and specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia.
